What was the first pair of headphones you ever owned?

My first pair of headphones was some gigantic headphones my dad had with his old stereo. All I can remember about it was that it was huge, probably closed, and had a 1/4" jack at the end. Also, about 1999 I bought a $10 Sony headphone that I had until I discovered Head-Fi.

my first real pair of headphone was the px200. got it before i came to head-fi. now i'm getting it back.

i wish i could keep all my gears so i can back to them for reference. i'd like to hear the difference between my imp350 and px200 versus ihp120 and er6i.

i hope they would sound about the same and so i could end up selling the ihp120 and er6i and buy something cheaper.

Come to think of it, the first headphones I bought that didn't come with the player were the Sony MDR-005

I payed a whopping price of 10 guilders. That's less than $5.

My first headphones were probably stock earbuds that came with my first walkman. There were those funky 70's closed headphones with white ear cups and black vinyl ear pads.

My first "audiophile" headphones were the Sennheiser HD455. My first real Audiophile headphones were the HD600's with the Little amp back in 1999.

The first headphone worth remembering, for me, is the Sony MDR CD550. Perhaps not entirely due to sound, but their full size. They looked kind of professional. At that point, I've only heard earbuds. The next headphone I seem to care to remember is an ipod earbuds. They just sounded good to me with loads of bass. The first audiophile headphone was an ety 4p.

Koss pro4AA back in 1970 that I pluged into a less than great receiver that had the capacity to play 8 track tapes.I thought at the time that it just could not get any better than this.It is just too bad tuberoller was not around at the time to guide me on what to buy.I think I could have done a lot better.

Sennheiser HD 430 (1980ish)
Just out of curiosity I replaced the earpads earlier this year as I wanted to hear how they'd compare to the MS-Pros - which are their direct successor.
I only can say that the upgrade was well worth it...

I just listened to the Philips' which looks almost exacltly like those pioneers. I couldn't listen on my gear cause it has a weird plug that can only be plug into an old receiver my mom's got in her living room. So the A/B test w/ the ms1s wasn't very fair...
Let's just say the ms1s sound like heaven in comparison.

And the philips don't even isolate much.
It was fun and they look like cd3000s when you're wearing them.
