If you had $1500 what turntable and cartridge would you get? Please list brand and model. Why would you choose this turntable and cartridge? I am only interested in buying new, not used.

Great question!  I'm interested in buying a new TT around same price range as you have.  I'm considering one of these three for time being.  VPI traveller with Denon 103r or Rega RP3 with Ely or Rega RP6 with Denon 103r.  However, I read some where that Rega is not good for a heavy cartridge such Denon.

I am a Rega fan. I had a P3/24 with a Denon 103r and loved the combination. I then upgraded to a P5 with Dynavector 20XL when the P5s were all on clearance.
 
I have not personally tried the new RP series from Rega, but my local vinyl shop has them and they look very nice.
 
With the 103r, I would recommend an aftermarket tonearm weight and the appropriate spacer under the tonearm (I use 4mm spacers for both the 103r and 20XL). No problems at all and great synergy with the table.
