What kind of cable did he use to make it? Did it improve the sound?

Bought the official replacement cable myself, and after that discovered that the connections from the elements to the 2.5mm plug inside the headphones were foobar as well. Ah well, after buying some supplies I got to soldering and fixed the trusty old 570's! Pretty happy with them, although I prefer the clarity of my K601's over the much better base that 570's offer. Better might not be the right word for the difference in base though, but ah well

Anyone wanting to repair the insides of the phones using the existing wiring beware: the wiring isn't meant to be resoldered thus making it prone to cold joints.
