Ed Wood's April/2003 link to the Worst Looking Headphones was weird for me. I've owned 2 of the nominees.

The Koss K/6 LC's and the Stax Sigmas.

I bought the K/6's right around 1972 from a Radio Shack. They didn't sound as good as my bud's Koss Pro's but they were more comfortable due to the Pro's protection screen being almost level with the pad leaving a flat surface and no room for ear lobes. The brown color didn't help the looks. I noticed Koss sold these phones for years afterwards, so somebody was buying them.

While the Sigmas looked funky they didn't sound it. When plugged into the SRA-12S energizer/pre-amp/phono-stage they sounded better than any headphone or loudspeaker system at the Big Buck Stereo shops I went to. Bought in '79, sold in '84.

Whoah, those are some ugly headphones. That bright yellow is simply hideous looking.

Those huge things eating that guy's head strikes me as being tops in the "totally useless" category. Unless of course that's a bulletproof vest below it, then they would be quite useful.
