Is that really new? Mine are like that and they're pretty old, what was the old packaging like?

I'd think that that is the old style packaging. All the new packs, except maybe the RS1(due to the size and accessories) have little circles of clear plastic film so you can preview the cans' open grilles out the back.

That same seller had an auction for a pair of brand new pair RS-1s in a wooden box. Knowing Grado hasn't shipped that wooden box for years I sent him an email asking how he happened upon them. I figure maybe he had bought them and never used them or something like that.

The reply I got back--"Magic"

I'm surprised he didn't say it was "the awesome supercolossal power of John Grado". Now, of course if he just sold the box and the RS1's separate, that would be different, as long as the guy isn't all shifty about it.

I like my Senn 650 box, though, thanks. sturdy to a T and smells nice to boot. only problem is the cut-away in the foam doesn't exactly fit the phones

very odd. oh well.

barring the phone boxes that are made of velvet and mahogony or some such (

), i'd say my favorite is the cd3000 box from sony.
