Anyone here listen to both sets of headphones, that can offer a personal perspective?

The new amp is simply the Kenwood VRS-7100, a completely digital receiver that has unbelievable synergy with the K 1000. The special facet of this amp compared to the digital T-amp (and other digital amps like it) is it receives an analog signal, converts to digital and then outputs analog. The VRS-7100 received a digital signal from my transports and outputs an analog signal to the speakers- there is no interim conversion and the sound is fantastically detailed and not strident or sibilant in any regard – it’s a very pure, clean sound that is still warmer than any solid-state amp I’ve heard with the K 1000. However, the K 701 still sounds more organic to me though it is not as revealing. I'm definitely keeping the K 1000 for its supreme resolution and unique presentation but I need to decide between the K 601 and K 701. The difference is the K 1000 sounds amazing with some music and great with others while the K 701 sounds great-to-amazing with ALL music. |
