Hey all,
 
So I have the fiio e17 pre-ordered to go with AT ESW9's. Now I'm turning to speakers. I'm currently in a share house so I only really need to produce sound for my room but I wouldnt mind something that can produce clean crisp punchy sound in a larger setting.
 
So I am wondering is the E17 good enough to act as an amp for passive speakers, and if so do I only need two quality speakers and a sub? If so what ones would you recommend (drop some names and ill look them up on this great site!)

Nah the E17 has a headphone amp section not one to power passive speakers - perhaps state a budget so peeps can better advise

You need the L7 aswell or e9 so you have a lineout from the e17.

The Fiio is a headphone amp, not a speaker amp, and it doesn't have analog line out.

As mentioned by JRG1990. all you need to get the line-out from E17 is the L7 dock.

Ok, soz guys 4 slow reply. Budget for speakers is prob max 500AUD though I will try second hand. Sounds like the E17 amp isn't strong enough so I wont worry bout the line out. Should I get active speakers and a sub that will work with e17 DAC function (to avoid my horrible moth board and sound card) or are passive speakers with a quality amp, leagues ahead sq wise?
