What (relatively cheap) amp would be able to drive the DT880's

Trapper32 seems impressed with his CTH compared to other amps he's had. And if you search for his posts (or ping him about it) it looks like he's owned commercial amps (including a Little Dot). And there are other CTH reviews scattered about.

Note though that, build complexity wise, CTH is considered an intermediate level project. It has, however, been the 1st DIY headamp project for a few AFAIR.

Opinions here seem to be a well designed & executed DIY amp costs a fraction of its commercial equivalent (1/2, 1/4 ?) if an "equivalent" even exists.

For Solid State amps, I would go for the AV123 X-Head if you need to stay under $200 - excellent for the money.
