I don't like guitar rock much with DT880. It's better than the HD580/600 family, but still lacking enough bottom end weight/heft to make the experience believable. All other forms of rock (and basically most other music) sound good to me.
IMO music with heavy guitars can be as 'picky' as classical as far as proper reproduction goes, and the requirements are somewhat opposite. My guess is a good pair of Grados will beat the Beyers in that department, but DT880 excels with classical (particularly symphonic).
