I've been an avid AIM user for years, but I've gradually become more and more annoyed by the ads that are incorporated into the AIM software. I've used trillion the last couple of weeks, but it noticeably slows down my system for some reason. So what do you guys/girls use?

I use Gaim... the best instant messaging client on the face of the Earth.

It is open source, feature-filled, full of fantastic plugins, supports virtually every service imaginable from AIM to Yahoo, VERY stable, and free of any crap like advertisements.

Go and download it - it's for Linux and Windows.

I used to use msn for like a month (never real-time chatted with anyone online before that) but it kept screwing up. Text and images wouldn't go through. Happened a lot randomly, I got annoyed cause I used it to talk to these two girls. MSN, messed with them too.

Hope they fixed it, dunno. Oh, yeah I use nothing now.

I have also moved to using GAIM, a universal client, so I use the AIM, MSN, and Yahoo messenger clients. It makes things much easier to communicate with people with different accounts.
