I have a very solid oak stand for my HT rig. It was originally vertical (e.g. taller than wider), after getting my current TV I placed it sideways as seen in the pic, made a simple DIY work to have the inner shef.

Edit: Notice one of the oldest games in the world to the left (Go set), and one of the most modern games in the world to the right (Playstation 2). Also, can you spot some of the tweaks? (Gel feet under receiver and player; bricks on speakers and components; custom made speaker stands

)

I use a Salamander Synergy 40 for my audiogear with my headphone gear on top.
