What is your "normal" volume level - ipod unamped?

Wow, I guess my friend was right about me listening to lower than usual volumes than she did. On my ER4P I used to listen to around 5-15% on the 5.5G iPod. Now with the P->S conversion I've pushed it to around 40-45%. I do notice more details at the higher volume...

Using a 5.5g unamped iPOD and se530s, I'm usually between 30-40% with everything but classical. I turn it up to 50% with classical. I never go past 50% with any type of music. Jinx, I'm surprised you're at 70-90%! Then I wonder, since we all have different ears, could proximity to the ear drum itself affect how loud we need our volume? Or is a seal a seal? I'm talking about IEMs obviously.

100% with my HD600s, but they're not meant to be powered directly out of an iPod anyway. With my HD555s I'd typically have it set between 50% and 75%, and with my PMX100s I used to set it around 90% and somehow didn't damage my ears. These days I run it at 50% with those unless I'm in a noisy enviroment.

ipod & isolating headphones; 50% - 80%

times i feel the need for loud music & driving beats, other times i want to listen - ie: concentrate on quieter sounds in quieter music, like ambient. does anyone else actually lower the volume for this? it seems wrong to me but it's almost like an instruction to your ears to listen for more detail.

With the ER4P connected to the 5.5 80Gb iPod, normally my volume is around -8dB. (The top is +6dB)

If you really want to get an idea about our volume levels we should all be using ibuds (or any popular can like px100s or ksc75). Also someone should post a legal track that everyone should use. Lastly, we should try to limit it to a specific source (ex. 5g ipod). This shouldn't be too hard to do and it would be a good way to really see where you're at volume wise. This could potentially save people's hearing if done right.

] with a Creative Zen Vision: M, Now I don't know how it compares to Ipod on the volume scale but I regularly use 15-17 out of 25...

Am I A Loud listener, guys? Oh, with an unmodded K81DJ I couldn't hear on lower than 19........

Nice thread mate!

Wow, I used K81DJ on 14 on my ZVM. Mylar3s are at 10 with a -3 eq on all but bass. KSC75 is about 13.

On my Zen Vision M I use 8-12(12 only if theres a noisy environment) with E2C.

Edit: I got the EU version, which is volume regulated.

Err now that I read what I wrote - I meant is that it sounds just too low un-amped on under 19..

I'm starting to think that my zvm's volume output is lower than it should be.... o.0
