What is your Money-Spent to Post-Count ratio on Head-fi?
Dec 3, 2011 at 7:13 AM Post #46 of 74
Really interesting topic.  Net on gear at the moment is definitely mid-fi, around $2500 - so that's only about $1.60 per post.  Gross would be a lot higher - but I don't think I've lost much during the journey (buy / sell process has been pretty good so far).

Very very low.

lets see

fiio e7 $120
fiio e5 $20
fiio l3 $15

Shure srh840 $130
Shure se215 $99
Shure srh750 dj x2 $250
Sennheiser hd 25 1 ii $200
Alessandro ms1 $99
Audio Technica ATH M50 $140 (including shipping from australia)
Shure srh940 $300 (being shipped)

Iphone 4 32gb $160

All together thats

$1533/3971= $0.38

Holy crap i have spent $1533 on audio equipment. I could have bought a killer gaming rig for that.

This doesn't include music expenses.

LOL

If you keep your net spending on gear right about there and get your post count up you will be just fine...too funny though.

I'm with Brooko it's net spending. I think I'm at about 1200 net, so about a buck and a half per post. I'm visiting my brother in Ohio at the moment and told him what I paid for my HF2's and he thought I was nuts. I wonder what he would think if he knew I had 2 pairs of four hundred dollar headphones at the same time as well as two other pairs of Grado's, some Porta Pro's, a pair of IEM's and the T50's. Basically multiple sets of headphones for one pair of ears; and if I'm nuts I wonder what he would think about the folks with really really expensive rigs and low post counts.

If i include a couple of preorders and this post, my expenditure to post ratio is over 1000 to 1 (over 7K divided by 7 posts).  Do I get credit for PMs?   If so, that would lower my ratio and make me feel better.

Oh this is a scary thread...let's see where I fit...

Posting right now to get a postcount, then will edit in value.

Okay - 3768 posts.

Around  $1.06 per post if I just count headphones.
Roughly $6.39 per post if I count audio equipment overall in the same period.

I think we need to start a 12-step program.

Edited for spelling.

Let's see, i will have to see my post count here.....

5422...... ahh last i checked i was about between 14,000-15,000 if you don't include normal stereo set up.  Probably over 15 now, so that's $2.76 per post.  Think i am more than a little over 15 though, makes me sick when i start adding it up anymore.  Wish i could just could have known what i was going to use more often in advance, but hindsight is 20/20.

A scarier way to do it is ratio of audio gear to yearly income..........

Ok I have on hand about $2000 worth of audio equipment in headphones, IEM's, amps, daps, etc so at 3100 posts that works out to $.65 a post. But I believe I have spent closer to $3500 all told and managed to recover about $1000 of that be reselling stuff. Something I will be doing again very soon to hopefully bring my current round up of gear to around $1500 or lower.

The big upgrades are coming soon.
