Basically it's good for all genres (or just the ones you listen to) But It's not the best out there for particular genres.

Senn 558's nail it pretty well in my mind, but upgrading soon.

Akg k701 covers all my grounds. (within my budget at least). I switch amps though depending on mood. The k701 is neutral and detail revealing enough to pretty clearly reveal the sonic differences in all my amps. Love it with my tube amps though. The 701 has some upper midrange coloration that i find sounds best when saturated with even order harmonic distortion from tubes.

For me it's the Beyer T1. Good for all genres

Sennheiser HD600.  This is my main set of cans.  On my Trafomatic, it's basically end game for me.

HD600, and I don't even own one. Sonic & comfort, these are one true masterpiece.

I think it's time to look into the new breed of headphones.

I'm gonna go with the Focal spirit and NAD.

The HD600/HD650 had it's fair run, their weaknesses are well known.  I think it is time for both of them to step down and make room for the new generation of headphones...they can all go down to 20hz flat with very low distortion everywhere.

* might throw in the Alpha dogs as well...pending measurements to show up at inner fidelity.

I really enjoyed the he-300 as an all-rounder headphone. I just couldn't get along with the cable

The he-300 was my all-rounder too until I broke them. My current all-rounder is the Koss HV/1. I know they lack the refinement of modern open back headhones but they sound really good with all the genres I listen to.

DT880, HD600, T1 and HE500 were the surefire all rounders I've heard.
