What is the first song you play when you get new cans?

I generally play anything I am currently listening to when I first get my headphones. I'll just enjoy the music first rather than doing some critical listening so early on.

As well as a bunch of songs from the Final Fantasy VII: Crisis Core soundtrack.

I'm not really looking for anything in particular, just seeing how my top-tier songs sound. :p

I just listened to Shamekia Copeland. Thanks for posting her name. She has a pretty powerful voice, will have to get some of her stuff. I use Hell Freezes Over and Fourplay, Spyro Gyra and of course Unplugged by Eric Clapton.

Check out her album "Turn The Heat Up". Amazing voice.

Something from Sarah Mclachlan's Mirror Ball album, to check sibilance. That album has a lot on Sarah's voice

I can't believe this thread has grown to 3 pages and not a single person has mentioned Michael Jackson yet. Off The Wall and Thriller are (IMO) among some of the best sounding records of all time.

I often try Dirty Diana - Michael Jackson and some heavy Metallica to test the low and upper mid and kinda how powerful electric guitar and drum and bass etc in hard and Heavy Rock can be reproduced.

Try Eric Clapton - Unplugged Album to test the sound stage and acoustic instrument as well as details.

Try B.B King to test male vocal and how emotionally electric guitar sounds.

Try Celine Dion and Mariah Carey (their old songs) to test female vocal.

Some nu-metal, alternative and other type of modern rock. Also some R&B and Hip-Hop

All are mainstream music. Yep I listen to mainstream and I am currently into Blues so much

PS: I'm new to Head-Fi and English is not my native language so I think it's safer for me not to use "head-fi's terms of sound"
