I'm not certain, but I'm pretty sure that it was The Beatles' Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band...Either that or More of the Monkees

My first CD purchase was Metallica's Black Album and Nirvana's Nevermind. Seems like a long time ago.

First album was Flash Gordon soundtrack (by Queen) and Billy Joel, 'The Stranger' (oddly, I bought these both at the same time as a 10 year old).

First CD was John Mayall 'The Turning Point' (still great)

First cassette was Bad Brains 's/t' (when Roir only released cassettes)

First CD... hmm... I went to a store to buy a cassette deck in the summer of 1985 and ended up with a Kenwood CD player. Of course now I needed discs. There was a record store nearby with a small CD section.

Which CD was first I don't remember. One of the early ones was "Genesis." And I called Warner Brothers to find out when "Phonograph Record" would be available on CD... they told me it would "soon."

Geeze, the first album I bought for myself was a Partridge Family album. Susan Dey was so hot...

The LP "Jimi Hendrix Smash Hits," back in the summer of 1970 or 1971.

Remember where I was, just not the exact year...a common enough problem for those of us growing up in that era, even more so now that the synapses have grown foggy from the purple haze of the passing decades
