I am currently using the onboard sound on my ecs motherboard by way of line out through my govibe v6. The motherboard does have an optical out. I am wondering what I should do for lets say under $100. Should I get a sound card or a usb dac or the headstage dac cable? I am open to any and all suggestions. I listen to all types of music and whatever solution I use will be used for music movies and gaming. I have a go vibe v6, beyer dt770's and akg k240m's.

x2.
But what I really would do is save up some more and get something more worthwhile.

I agree with apatn.
$100 is not enough to get a significantl improvement that will last for a while.
The ONLY thing I can think of is buying a second hand Audio Alchemy. Those things are ancient (mid 90's) but they sound very nice. On a recent test I did at home they beat the crap out of those oversampling, upscaling, multi bitting zhalou's, shmalou's and zero's. (basic versions, I mean)
