I'm totally fed up with ringtones. Cell phones are annoying enough, but ringtones really raise the annoyance level. Two incidents in particular stand out. In one, I'm working in my cubicle, and suddenly ear-splitting can-can music lights off right next to my cube. Another time, I was talking to someone, in a quiet office area, and suddenly very loud heavy metal music starts blaring. I'm trying to figure out where the h#$% the music is coming from - it's the cell phone of the guy I was talking to! If I worked in the same office area as him, his cell phone wouldn't be long for this world.
Also, our company recently switched our phones to VOIP. The phone we have allow you to select, you guessed it, ringtones. The worst ringtone is the one that goes "Are you there? Are you there?". I am so fed up with hearing that!
My phone is set to vibrate pretty much all the time. If I want to make sure I don't miss an important call, I'll turn on the ringer, but that's extremely rare.
