so what exactly is "cymbal"?
There is truth and beauty in all percussion instruments.
There is truth and beauty in all percussion instruments.
There are amazing triangle parts out there and some that require sophisticated technique and understanding to perform...somebody's been missing out.
A cymbal is a lovely instrument, a thing of beauty, it can be used to create sheer sonic bliss when used by the hands of a master such as Tony Williams.
Check out Tony Williams work with the Miles Davis Quintet: "Miles Smiles" or "Nefertiti".
Jazz Drumming and Cymbal work at it's finest.
The cymbal was invented by the Chinese and perfected by the Turks.
Modern music would not be the same without these lovely instruments.
The world would be a far sader place without them!

BTW, drummers are not mean, cymbals are gently tapped, caressed, brushed, touched by soft mallets to bring out their sweet, silky gossamer tones.

Also, no mention of clash cymbals? It's not drummers that are meanest to cymbals.
