I don't own an iPod, and it doesn't have headphone outs. I've searched around, and this thing seems relatively unknown. The speakers that it comes with look like B&W, but it doesn't mention the brand in any of the official literature. What do yall think?

Yup, I think it's supposed to be something like that. My mom said it sounded fantastic in the store, but I haven't opened it up yet- I'll probably end up returning it for a decent pair of speakers.

On that note, anyone have any suggestions for B&W speakers under $400?

For that price you'd be looking at the 686's and at that price point you could do better. the next step would be the 685's which do get good reviews but they go for £370-380, im not sure if B&W stuff is cheaper or more expensive in the US compared to UK prices.

Gift giver=my parents, and when I go back to the store tomorrow I'll check out the demo unit they have out. If it floors me, I'll keep it. If not, I'll find some other suitable product.
