From the point where I was first aware of "better alternatives", UE SF4, CX500 (used them almost concurrently with the SF4), PX100 (used them at home for comfort), and then I discovered Head-fi.
Sony MDR-CD3000's and Micro-ZOTL amp was my first (pre Head-fi) rig. That was a really nice combination. I'd been into speaker-fi long before though, so had a bit of a head start that way.
They were decent enough. Although considering their price, and comparing them to even the Koss KSC75's they weren't so special. They were like $50 and generally didn't sound as good. They had a little better bass, and were of course more comfortable, but that's about it.
Lol I used to believe the best sound comes from iPhone + its earphone
Now when I listen to music using the Apple earphone I feel like I listen to MIDI music, organ vocal, electric drum (the cheap one), bassist is never there in the band
Then I found Head-Fi.
So far: Shure SRH440, Sennheiser HD555, Audio Technica ATH-CK7. Coming next week: Audio Technica ATH-M50 and Denon AH-D5000.
$20 Plantronics headset (I was a gamer before I came to Hi-Fi gear, was recommended by a friend to this site, then lead into A700s, then went up the chain from there).
