Hi all!
 
I have an Alessandro MS1i which I love for genres such as rock, hard-rock and heavy metal. Guitars really rock!! But now i would like to buy another pair of headphones to pair with MS1i, circumaural, with a wider soundstage and a warmer sound. I'd like to use them with music (pop, commercial music) and occasionally games and films.
I have a budget of 100-150 €.

I like my Denons like I like my women, with a nice bottom end, and simple construction.

Err if you don't mind not having subbass like with your Grados, I like the DT880 for what it is. The 250ohm and 600ohm aren't really different to my ears.

Though D2000 are a little bit out of budget, I will search for an used one. What about the Creative Aurvana Live? I've read it's a remarked Denon 1001, does it offer a similar sound signature?
I'll look for some Beyers too, but I guess I will need an amplifier for them (currently, I listen to music from a PC equipped with an Asus Xonar DX soundcard). I'm already looking for an amplifier to pair with MS1i, may I find an amp that can pair to both headphones?

I have a friend who's got Grado SR60s. When A-B comparing them with my Denon AH-D1100 I've found that my Denons provide quite the soundstage but beware of the bass. I love listening to Skrillex with them. In fact, I used Scary Monsters and Nice Sprites to burn them in. You can find them for around 110 USD or in my case 95(85 cause they were open box) GBP.

Err if the D2000's are out of budget, try finding something like DT990 (bass and treble hump) or DT880 (neutral, big soundstage, airy, sparkly treble), it's smack dab in your budget at around $180 USD.

Sounds like the Senn HD 518, 558 or 598--the best one you can afford.

I know the warm sound of Sennheisers, I have had PX100 and PX100-II which I liked but they miss a clear sound. Though I will give HD518-558 a try.
What can you say about AKG K240-K242? Are they too much analytical?

I can only speak about the K 240 Studio and the answer is no.
 
I will add that the Senn HD 5x8 line has is a step up and that their build quality is superior.

So... with "no" you mean that K240 is NOT that much analytical, right?
'Cos I've read further on the web and it seems that they're pretty "warm" comparing them to other AKGs (like K501, K601, K701/2).
 
I'm really curious about them and Sennheiser HD 5x8.
 
Moreover, I've read good things about Beyers DT880 and DT990. I found the latter for 145 Euros, a brand new Pro-250 Ohm version. I think this could be a real deal!

If you want the exact opposite type headphones to complement them - get some senns.
 
It will be so different though, it will be jarring to switch back and forth...

Eheh, i think so... It's sufficient to take a look to their respective frequency response graphs, supposing that MS1i is almost equal to SR125i:

Correct x 2--but rmemeber those other cans are quite cold.

The HD 518, 558 & 598 are outstanding cans and very good values...until Senn started enforcing its MAP (at least in the US).

The 880 (Pro) are outstanding; the 990 are good if you like a "V" shaped EQ.

I eventually pulled the trigger on the Senns HD558, I found them for 127 Euro. Hopin' they will satisfy my ears
