What pads do you use?

For example stringed instruments sound sweeter and have more body. All this with detail and/or transparancy that is as good or better. You said you want good rock music on headphones. I think the RS1s deliver bigtime. The sound is highly detailed and forward or close to the stage with punchy bass that is also full and warm.

Wish you the best on your choice.

Hi,

three weeks ago the answer had to be K 701.

But as I now got my Gs-1000 with a black dragon recabling it definitely is the GS-1000. Wowo what a fine device. I never thought that a set of headphones can do what the GS-1000 deliver.

Kramer is smiling with the Grados, and frowning with the Senns. I think we know the winner here

ATH-W11JPN : these just seem like the were perfectly voiced for live performances by my favorite band - which is about 90% of what I listen to.

Grado PS-1 : when the W11JPNs are too mellow, these just flat out rock.

Started with the Senn 600 and hated it. Replaced with a Grado 325 and was happy... for a while. Beyer 880 devastated the Grado and out it went. Two years went by and I gave Team Senn another go with the Senn 650... bye bye Beyer. Later I revisited the Beyer since my rig had changed a lot. With better gear the gap widened, the Senn 650 stayed the Beyer disappointed. Haven given Team Senn another go I thought Grado should get another shot and in came the Grado RS1. This was a no contest, I didn't even complete my usual review process. A few tracks made it obvious the RS1 wasn't able to hang with the Senn 650 and out they went.

Long story short the Senn 650 is the most natural and involing headphone I've owned. But the journey isn't over, Team AKG, Team Stax, Team AT all still need a shot at the thrown

I am not sure but they are the ones that came with the headphones. Purchased the RS-1s about 5 years ago. They are not the flat pads. They are bowl shaped.
