My Black Dragon story....I bought the Black Dragons probably 6 months ago and used them with my HD-650's(since sold). So anyway the BD's were broken in and didn't have a headphone.Bought the HD-800's about 5 weeks ago and was very pleased right out of the gate.I have some other nice cans(T1 and HE-500) so I knew what good sound was like. Had no reason to be dissatisfied with the stock cable. The 800's got most of the head time.

Just because I had them and they weren't being used I sent the Black Dragons to Moon Audio to be re-terminated for the 800's.

I got the cables in the mail today(they did a nice job by the way). Attached them and assumed that I would notice a small difference but nothing earth shattering. I have re-cabled before and thought I knew what to expect.WAS  I WRONG....

The bass is better, both quality and quantity,I swear the sound stage is even bigger and the clarity is improved.

I am a happy man.....

Just to think that I only did it because it wasn't being used. Go figure....

It really is! Loving it right now too with my LCD-3s.

MacedonianHero,

I'm curious, how do you split your listening time usually between your 4 flagship full-size headphones? Do you listen to the SR-009 the most? I'm thinking that the SR-009 will be my next purchase. I recently auditioned them and I was very impressed. I'm still going to keep my HD 800s though, but if/when I get the SR-009, I'll probably use the HD 800s only for music that requires a massive soundstage (like orchestral).

Right now, it's SR-009s about 50% of the time, LCD-3s about 25% and the HD-800s/TH-900s get the remaining time. The SR-009s do every genre of music I can throw at them better than any of my other cans...says quite a lot about these spectacular headphones!

Feel free to "lend" me your other headphones then. :) I need to get my ass to a head-fi meet to hear the SR-009.

I highly recommend you do try and get out to a meet. In the meantime, my pair will stay right here.
