Well, it's basically your money that they are giving back so what you can do is just spend whatever money you have in your savings account, college fund, grocery, etc. and spend it and replenish it later. That's exactly what they are doing so if that's what you want, go crazy.

Remains to be seen!
1. If I get a tax refund at all.
2. If #1 is positive, what to spend it on.

My tax refund isn't buying me any new headphones, it's paying off the money I spent on headphones with my VISA card over the past year... Good thing Chase is only an 8.24% interest rate for me.

I'm getting a tax refund because taking into account all the write-offs, I paid too much tax in 2008. What I will be receiving from the taxman is actually my own money and not a handout.
Still, it's not a good idea to spend it on a pair of PS100 or a HD800.

I don't mean to be political, but that's the kind of attitude that has largely put the world economy where it is now (only thinking about the short run without consideration for long run effects). Trust me when I say the worst is NOT over like some claim. As a side not I am getting a $950AU payement from the government, i'd however prefer they not give out such payouts and have the government spend the money (if they must spend it and put as in such a huge defecit) on infastructure and the like. All there doing in my eyes is trying to buy votes.

I hope it's not against the law, but I want to buy some imports!

It's not (though i'm assuming that was sarcasm), it just defeats the purpose of the stimulus package.
