Yes. CDex is much more user friendly. However, I did encounter a few discs that CDex couldn't rip properly but EAC managed without a hitch. Having said that, matched with a decent optical drive, it should work ok.
I think EAC has come a long way in the last few years and is now much easier to configure than before, though the options may still be overwhelming for newcomers.
