God bless used CD stores. I usually buy my discs for $4-8 depending on how new the release is. I rip to ALAC and let the discs sit in spindles.

Flac.

Only because I ripped all my vinyl to Flac and have all my CD's in Flac. It used to be WMA Lossless, but my Majik can't play those.

Library consists of just over 1000 bought CDs. All are ripped to 256~320 kbps MP3 for portable device listening. I am also presently ripping everything to FLAC (currently on the U's) in preparation of getting the Logitech Squeezebox Touch when it's released. I still occasionally listen to the physical CD at home or on the road.
