I am messing around with these, now that I have some other headphones that I can use while these are out of commission. I have modified these quite a bit already. Detachable cables, with 4 pin mini-XLR plugs in the cups, also split the cable so it goes to both ear cups. The cable is a Mogami cable I cannibalized. I also put 100 ohm resisters in, so I could drive the phones a little harder with my amp. Tube amps seem to sound better when they are pushed a little. They sound really good. The Resister mod seems to have tamed the highs a bit, and tightened up the bass. However, in my haste, I damaged one of the drivers. I'm waiting on Sennheiser to get back to me about selling me some replacements. My question is, since I'm modding them anyway, what ear pads will work on these? I'd love to use some of the velour pads that are on the higher end open ear headphones, a la, HD 600/650. If Sen. will sell me new drivers, I might as well pick up some more comfortable pads. The fake pleather pads stick to my skin when it's hot.

Nobody knows if the velour pads from the higher end Sens will fit on my HD280Pros? I just ordered new drivers, so I'll put up pics if I can... It won't let me, right now, for whatever reason... They're pretty cool.

Currently using these on my HD 280s. They fit well, but since I'm still waiting on some wire to fix mine xD I don't know how well they work. But I have heard they are good.

My initial opinion though. The inside does not feel like it will be comfy. I may have to find a way to stuff some memory foam in there or something. It feels like.. I don't know. something that I would not expect to be low quality when the rest of these pads feel amazing.
 
If you don't mind maybe having to modify these a little bit, then go for it. They definitely do fit, just that the inner core material they used feels a bit cheap.
 
I was looking into these, because they appear to also possibly fit, and are gel cushions. Sounds nice

Worth a shot. I don't know about the second ones though. I'm trying to get away from plasticy feeling pads that will make my ears sweat. I'm a big fat sweaty guy, so real quality leather, or a velour style pad seem to do the best, but still be comfortable. For me anyway. Your milage may vary...
