what does sennheiser is really good for?

While the HD580/6XX's are not great in any one area, I think it's quite an achievement that they are very good with just about everything, the possible exeption being heavy metal. The all-around nature my HD580's is a Godsend for someone like me who's musical tastes are very diverse. BTW, I agree with the previous poster about how magical the HD580/6XX sound with the piano (I'm listening to Bill Evans - Waltz For Debbie as I type).

Like everybody say here: all around good cans, with no specific flaw over entire audio band. Those few times that I fell for good reviews of other phones only reconfirmed senns general strength, especially for their 'reasonable' prices. It would be tough finding something better below $300 mark.
