I know about what it is, but what does it sound like?
 
Is it something like distortion? or like a cutoff of some frequencies?

Install Audacity onto your PC, load a song that you are familiar with, preferably Pop since they tends to clip easily, choose 'Effect', then 'Amplify', adjust the amplification to be significantly higher (said +9dB), make sure you check box for 'allow clipping', go back to the main interface for a quick playback - now sit back and enjoy the sounding of clipping.
