This has been bugging me for a while. And I've been searching the internet but haven't come across a graphical desciption of exactly how an armature in IEM's looks like.

I know what a basic voice-coil and diaphram look like and work. And I think I have a rough idea of how an armature and possible diaphram assembly for an in-ear-monitor might work. But alas...

If anyone could direct me to a link I'd much appreciate it, thanks.

Ah... that's really interesting, not quite what I'd pictured. Thanks krmathis.

Yeah, they sure look totally different from other ear-/headphone drivers.
Just happy to be able to point you in the right direction.

FROM THE DEAD. How could the armature be so thick? All the diagrams indicate that the peice of metal in this picture, bent in the U sape (the armature), should be nible an flexible. The size of that U shaped armature looks kolossal, to big to easily bend like I imagine they should. Am I misunderstanding some property of the metal or mechanism?

The armature is not supposed to bend or flex.  That is exactly what you DO NOT want.  It also only looks big and heavy because it's blown up.
