This is turning out to be really good. Very dreamy/hallucinatory prose. Wildly imaginative.
good so far

I know right... Reminds me of an American Murakami...
I haven't read Murakami - I usually stay away from Chinese/Japanese and Korean translated works because of terrible translations, especially contemporary fiction. I have had bad experiences in the past. But because this book was written in English as a first language and because it got short listed for the booker and the rave reviews I though i'd give it a go.
Has Murakami translated his own novels? Would you recommend them? I read "soul mountain" by Gao Xingjian and "the garden of evening mists" by "Tan Twan Eng" and didn't like them at all if that helps.
I love Murakami. I don't think I can really comment on the transaltion quality and haven't read Gao or Tan. I can only read english so maybe I am not the best judge but I have read these.
A Wild Sheep Chase
Hard-Boiled Wonderland and the End of the World
Norwegian Wood ( My Fav )
Dance Dance Dance
The Wind-Up Bird Chronicle ( My Fav )
Sputnik Sweetheart
Kafka on the Shore (My Fav)
After Dark
Once on a trip I told my friend: Read Norwegian Wood, Listen to the Song Norwegian Wood, Watch the Movie Norwegian Wood and listen to Reiko playing Norwegian Wood in the movie. I know it doesn't make sense![]()
Im thinking of putting up a list of the books that i have read in the last 3 years (since I started keeping a list).
I was going to give them a score out of ten. If anyone is interested let me know. Im wondering whether or not to
start a new thread or would it be alright to have it here?
Start a NEW THREAD... I am interested.. I will add to it as well.
