What are your favorite UNAMPED full-size phones?

Denon D1001. Sounds very, very nice from an iPod.

All these good headphones sound GOOD from an unamped source, surely better than crappy earbuds or something. There are just some quality headphones that sound better unamped then others. I enjoy my Grado SR-80 unamped most, so probably higher up Grados would be best.

I would have to pick the D1001's also. They are very nice without an amp and even better with one. A close second would be a tie between the MS1' and ES7's. Had all three at one time, but had to let the ES7's go. It was a sad day

I had MS Pro and RS1 for testing and i preferred slightly the first one, which I'll be ordering soon. D2000 beats them amped but unamped they both sound allot better IMO.

EDIT: forgot to include bottom line: MS Pro the best I've heard unamped, RS1 second, HFI-780 third, then D2000, then nine empty places, then HD595.

DOUBLE EDIT: as unamped i intended powered by DAP, not some good/more powerful source cos that's another story.

My fav used to be AD700 til I got the Ultrasone HFI-780, There my Fav now. I enjoy them even better then I enjoyed the AD700.

grado sr 80 though i imagine and others have heard that all of their models work well unamped

Grado Denon and Ultrasone are all pretty good...
