Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Uncle Charlie & His Dog Teddy.jpg
The studio album that got the band rolling, from 1970. Uncle Charlie was a
real person, aged ~85 at the time. His hound dog Teddy provides howls.

This song is by Earl Scruggs. Here, it's John McEuen on banjo and Les Thompson on mandolin.

Nitty Gritty Dirt Band - Will the Circle Will Unbroken - Volume Two.jpg
The sequel to 1972's Volume 1, Vol. 2 was recorded in 1989, live in studio in
Nashville, with a boatload of talented musicians. By then, John McEuen had
left the NGDB; since many songs require a banjo, they brought in Bela Fleck
and Earl Scruggs. Other notables include Johnny and Rosanne Cash, Levon
Helm, John Denver, John Prine, Emmylou Harris and John Hiatt. A tape loop
was rolling to catch banter in the studio.

An example of the musicianship displayed on this album. Lead guitar is by
Earl Scruggs' son Randy. Jeff Hanna is on the washboard :)

This is a Bob Dylan song, performed here by Roger McGuinn and Chris Hillman of The Byrds.
