Been really obsessing over prog metal for a while now and this band fits the bill. They just released this in December and they are worth a listen. Check them out the whole album for quite the adventure.

Great album, different sound with an indie rock feel but unique:
The Sun Dogs - Rose Windows
It's rock but has a hint of prog rock. Their albume Illuminate is great as well.

My first listen to the latest from Petty & The Heartbreakers and I have to say it's not too bad at all. This is a bit of a step back in time and that's not a bad thing. I'll need a couple more listens but so far I like it. If you buy the vinyl you get a coupon for a free digital download which is a nice bonus.

lite is one of my favorites (the kids call it math rock)
it has a lot of bits and pieces of punk and jazz and rock
some may even call it post rock
