Some '80s music last night, from Mike Oldfield's 1983 album 'Crises'
The remastered 'deluxe' edition sounds really good.

I never tire of 'Moonlight Shadow'. A great pop song and fantastic guitar solo:

Edit: Here's another version, genuinely played live.
I prefer Maggie Reilly's vocals on the original, but Mike Oldfield's guitar playing here is just brilliant! Shades of Mark Knopfler:

@RCBinTN : I wasn't able to get into Weather Report years ago. Thank you for reminding me I need to try again.
They are an acquired taste, and likely don't appeal to the younger crowd. I like them because the music is complex and the musicians are very talented. Those two aspects drive a lot of my music choices. YMMV as always :)

Today's listening: needed some outlaw music = Waylon, Willie and the boys. I heard somewhere that nobody does guitars like Grado ... I've never heard a Grado HP, but can testify that the HD800 do guitars well :)

I agree with you @RCBinTN
A friend introduced me to 'jazz rock' ( as it was known back then) in about 1976.
I didn't like all of it, but a few albums have been favourites ever since.
One such album is 'Heavy Weather' by Weather Report. It has the famous track 'Birdland' on it, but I also love 'A Remark You Made'.

Jaco Pastorious was my all-time favourite bass guitarist, and the whole band were virtuoso musicians

Other 'fusion' or 'jazz rock' artists which have stood the test of time for me, include:
The Crusaders ( and Joe Sample as a solo artist )
Al Di Meola
Stanley Clarke
Mahavishnu Orchestra
Eberhard Weber

I also regard Jeff Beck's 'Blow by Blow' as almost a 'jazz rock' album, as it was so ground breaking when released back in 1975 .

@RCBinTN and @Les Strat, Heavy Weather was my introduction to Weather Report. At the time, I didn't get it. I need to try again. I've heard some from Al Di Meola and Stanley Clarke. Heard of Eberhard Weber, but not heard his music. Blow By Blow is also one of my favorite albums ever. I'll also add Miles Davis' A Tribute to Jack Johnson to the fusion list. One of my favorites from Davis. Most of his other late-career albums don't do it for me.

Don't worry mods, I'll post some music from today's listening to comply with the terms of this thread. Just need to get home...

Later:

Today was apparently rhythm day.
"Song of the Wind" Carlos Santana, Caravanserai

"Ready Let's Roll" Bob Schneider King Kong 3

Spent about an hour and a half slumped in my chair with my eyes closed. A perfect storm of exactly the right music with a simple but synergistic system. Now that dinner is over, I need to go back to it.

@Ableza, @Les Strat, my Amazon cart is a bit fuller now.
