I've had Licensed to Ill on repeat for days now.

I never really listened to the Beastie Boys much growing up, sorta writing them off as a joke band, or something people enjoyed ironically. I never liked hip hop, so I'd pretty much completely written them off.

Entirely on a whim I decided to buy this. Just, out of the blue I said I would buy this, and I really have no idea why.

And you know what? It's a god damned masterpiece. Not an exaggeration, it's legitimately incredible. Looking into their discography, it seems they have some real gold, so I'm excited to grab some more of their albums.

For my money, you already own their best album... by far. A lot of people like the one after that (Paul's Boutique) but I never could get into it. There are some excellent tracks in the rest of the discography, but no album that's as consistently excellent as Licensed to Ill, IMO.
