You could probably grab up an Audience aR1p on the cheap.  It's not a transformer-based solution though.

I've got my black one on my desk, behind my amp and dac. It's not that bad - to all of my friends it is "yet another little metal box for Dustin's audio stuff." Once it's later in the evening, though, the room is fairly dark and you can't see anything but the power switch LED anyway. Mostly people are just completely stunned by how heavy it is.
