What's the difference in taste between double cream stout and normal stout?
Cream stouts contain small amounts of milk or lactose. In my opinion, cream stouts generally are a bit sweeter than other stouts. I also find them to be a bit thicker in feel that other stouts. There are so many variables such as hop or grain content that I don't want to make any other broad statements.
I prefer cream or oatmeal stouts over regular stouts because I like a bit of thickness/sweetness/nuttyness in my beers.
as today was a 'lets open a NICE bottle of wine' day (these happen rarely but spontaneously with my father) i am drinking a 1997 Haut-Bages red wine from my favorite region of France (Paulliac). for those not in the know, the Haut-Bages is the 2nd pressing (or surplus pressing) of the acclaimed Lynch-Bages, which is my favorite wine in the world ever. An immense treat! mmmmmmmmmm (insert tipsy smiley)
