What are the top albums of 2005 (so far)?

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah has sunk it's claws in me DEEEEP the past couple of weeks.

I'll second the nods to Illinois and Gimme Fiction as well. The Stars album I just got a hold of, but already agree it should be way higher on the list.

It's one of my favorites of the year thus far regardless of official release date.

My favorites in no order.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! - Clap Your Hands Say Yeah! (this is probably what i think is the best of the year)
Part Chimp - I Am Come
Sleater-Kinney - The Woods
The Boy Least Likely to - The Best Party Ever
Bloc Party - Silent Alarm
The Mars Volta - Frances the Mute
Wolf Parade - Apologies to the Queen Mary

As for some of the other albums mentioned here.

Sufjan Stevens - Illinois : I can see why some people think its so good, but I don't think its that great. a bit to long also.
The Decemberists - Picaresque : I like this album, but there is just some albums released that are better.

I also have Lost Horizons, and I can vouch for it as well, though don't expect the same sound.

Spoon was a disappointment to me.

TMV is decent at best.

Clap Your Hands Say Yeah - I would like it so much more if the voice wasn't so annoying to me.

New Pornographers - Thief! Probably my second favorite indie band, behind Pinback. Can't wait for this one!

Gorillaz put out a good album, though not quite up to the S/T standards.

Dream Theater was good, but the Muse rip-offs got tiring.

I'm highly anticipating Sigur Rós and Boards this fall.

1. Sleater-Kinney shouldn't be there.
2. The Books should be at the top.
3. M.I.A. should be lower.
4. LCD Soundsystem should be higher.
5. Spoon should be 2nd or 3rd.
6. Eels should be lower.
7. The Magic Numbers shouldn't be there.
8. Stars should be much higher.
9. Mountain Goats should be top 5.

And that's all that I can think of, not including the 10 or so records on that list that I haven't even heard.

So if Spoon is 2nd or 3rd, where does that place Robbers on High Street?

I mean, they sound exactly alike...

By far and away: Illinios by Sufjan Stevens. Just saw him last night in concert and it was really fun. The whole set was songs from Illinois. And I got this cool green shirt that says 'come on feel the Illinoise.'

I also like Bright Eye's two albums, preferring 'Digital' over 'Morning.'

I'm looking forward to new Broken Social Scene (rumours of a double album?), Death Cab for Cutie, Sigur Ros, and Matthew Good.

Also I've been meaning to check out Spoon's Gimme Fiction for a while now.

The Books - Lost and Safe
Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks - Face The Truth
LCD Soundsystem - s/t
Smog - A River Ain't Too Much To Love
Stars - Set Yourself On Fire

I'm just getting to know Oneida's "The Wedding"...that's really good.
