What amp takes HE60 to near HE90 level?

lets put it this way: the HE60 out of the HEV90 and the HE90 out of the HEV90;

NO Contest.

This leads me to believe that whatever you throw at the HE60 to make it sound better, the HE90 will still be that much better.

Neil

PS: although in terms of overall enjoyment factor, the HE60 has a lot to offer on its own merits.

Any amp that would make the HE60 sound that much better would also make the HE90 sound that much better.

But really, there's nothing wrong with a $150,000 Maserati not outperforming a $650,000 Ferrari.

Your right! Do you know why? Because an HE90 out of an SDS Maestro produces NO sound.

All things being equal, the HE60 is not going to sound like an HE90 ever. The HE60 seems to scale down well, though, while the HE90 screams for the best amp you can throw at it. The HE60/Stax 007t combo has been commented on many times, and that may be the right cost/performance amp for the HE60. A downside of the ES1 is that it makes it painfully clear just how much better the HE90 is, at least to me. Not that the HE60 is bad, but the HE90 is simply the better headphone. If I didn't have an HE90, I'd be perfectly happy with HE60.
