What amp are you HD650 guys using?

Yep, balanced Beta22. And I never recommend a tube amp for HD650.

WA6 here and it sounds awesome.

The absolute best I have heard the HD650s sound is when they are powered by the Zana Deux, but a fully upgraded WA6 comes awfully close.

X2 on the WooAudio 6. Mine has the pseudo power supply mod. Makes my HD 650's sing.

I am loving the HD650 sound with my Whiplash Millett MiniMAX.

So far, Sylvania FM6 and Tung-Sol AE6 tubesets. Both different, both wonderful in different ways.

Trying a pair of Sylvania AE6 with "halo" getters tonight.

Yes... the MiniMax tends to "lighten up" the sound of the HD650s (all Senns) quite a bit - greater detail, lighter, brighter, airier sound - more like the ATHs.

It tends to alter the sound, much as the WA6 SEM and Solo SRG do - which are also great with the HD650s.

Senns still have their rich, warm, weighty sound, but with a bit more of the brighter ATH / Grado sound - an improvement which I much prefer. Though, I suppose some might think the sound becomes a bit too bright - if they're into the older, dark Senn sound.

Out of the amps I've owned, I've found the 650's work the best with the Raptor. Really loving the sound I'm getting with the 50's Mullard in the input and the 50's Tung-Sols in the drivers.

I didn't read through the whole thread, so if someone else has mentioned them, I second it:

CKII3...it made my 650's absolutely sing. Damn, I hate I sold that amp.

My 650's are powered with the Head-Direct EF1 with the Mullard Tube. The mids, lows, and instrument separation are excellent, though there is a bit of a roll off in the highs, which I don't overly mind (being used to Shures and all).

I find that the HD650 go very well with the Compass. I can't wait to have them balanced and fed by the Phoenix.
I was told that the HD650 benefit a lot when balanced.

I'm really digging the WA6SE/650 combo.
For the DIY route, I'm planning on building up my skills to tackle a balanced B22.
