Recently, my Westsone 4 broke and was no longer under warranty so I decided to switch over to a full size can. Went into my local music store and saw the B&O H6, I liked their full speakers so I figure why not give these babies a shot. I would have auditioned them in the store but it was so new they didn't have one out on display. So i brought them, got them home, did some listening, now I'm not sure if it's me (to used to Westsone 4) or I have a bad pair but the vocals sound like they're coming from a tin can. Is it possible I'm just to use to the Westone 4?

That can happen when you go from a mid forward phone to a more neutral one, or possibly require burn in/need to get accustomed to sound signature. So give it some time and post results!

Dunno, the h6 isn't the most natural sounding 'phone. It has a slightly unnatural mid range in my opinion.

I'm glad that I'm the only one who thinks the mids are kinda weird. Vocals sound like they are farther away  (only way I can explain it)

That's because they are slightly v shaped in frequency response. My problem is, that they sound slightly lifeless

I guess I will need to return the B&O H6. With my Westone being broken, what's a good replacement for them?

Here goes my reasons,
 
1. for certain songs ex. like Bruno Mars "Treasure" (flac), it Vocals sound its coming from radio 2 feet away from me (strangely just the vocals). Upping the volume seems to make it better but then all the instruments are too loud. 
 
2. maybe it's my ears but I swear there are times when everything (vocals, instruments, and electronics) just sorta all mash together into this giant clump of sound. Can't separate one thing from another
 
3. Riding the subway I have to turn them up to almost 80 percent to hear them. They aren't supposed to be that hard to drive so I'm only assuming that they are not isolating that well. And I don't want to crank them up to 100 for fear of damaging my ears.
 
4. Bass is there and not there, depending on some songs. 
 
Based on my 3 days of listening, I feel like they work great with materials like, Adele, Eric Clapton, Norah Jones and not so much with pop songs.
 
I will try to burn them in some more and see what happens
 
But I did pick up a pair of the new BOSE quiet comfort 20 in ears just to see how they are (I know the SQ probably isn't all that but I'm very interested in the NC)

How are you doing with all this headphone craze? Lolz, I have ended up with the H6 myself for reasons... Definitely got another view on them, have owned them for some days now. They are actually really hard to explain sound wise, but they do actually need some very decent amplification to shine
