i've been listening to bands such as animal collective, battles, panda bear, and such, and these are basically my favorite types of music, which i don't even know what to categorize them as... and i can never get sick of them, but does anyone else have any recommendation of music that is just crazy, unordinary, but catchy and just awesome... not something like deerhoof, which just blabbers music without any rhythm at all....

so, anyone got something to recommend? thanks

Deerhoof would have been one of my first suggestions...lacking rhythm? Listen again. I could understand if you don't like the singing, but lacking rhythm (or melody or rawk)?

Some other suggestions:

Sonic Youth
The Ruins
Meat Puppets
Thinking Fellers Union Local 282
The Music Tapes
Butthole Surfers
Lightning Bolt
Hella
Xiu Xiu
Broadcast
Negativland
Daisy Chainsaw

Some of the Flaming lips stuff sounds a bit like Panda bear and Animal collective, a bit. It is very well produced/recorded though. I'd give it a try.

I, too, loves Deerhoof.

I'll add Dan Deacon - Spiderman of the Rings, which to me sounds a bit like Battles got with Panda Bear and made a kid composed 8 bit Nintendo Rock.

Atrium Carceri. Black/industrial ambient. Very good stuff.

Also, if you're not averse to a bit of ambient-flavored black metal, The Axis of Perdition.
