Hi Rob, were you a consultant for ESS or AKM?
Not one of the specialist DAC companies. One of my contracts was 100 pages long, with 10 about confidentiality, so it's safer if I say nothing!
Interesting thanks. So next announcement Hugo 3?
See my comment earlier about Dave:
"Actually I don't know either - all I know is I haven't started work on a replacement to Dave at all. That said, I might get a panicked phone call tomorrow from Chord saying they need the replacement ASAP due to component shortages. For manufacturing, we live in very uncertain times. Not only that, prototype builds take a huge time now, and each new design typically will have multiple prototypes."
This also applies to Hugo 2, Qutest and TT2, so the next product will not be a Hugo 3!
A brand new product then? I am an engineer my self and I find it hard to believe that you are not working on anything. Hardest thing for an engineer is to do nothing. Not one of the specialist DAC companies. One of my contracts was 100 pages long, with 10 about confidentiality, so it's safer if I say nothing!

Err, well probably, yes. As well as anything else too commercially sensitive to even express a hint as to its existence.Seriously!?
4M Taps... Wow! May need to get in touch with my Mortgage Broker to arrange a remortgage soon.... Bet it will be in a same chassis as DAVE...
PGGB is giving me 250 million taps but I am preferring mscaler these days.
why people are so rude on line? Maybe a subject for another thread

I think if you read the early parts of the Dave thread, Rob mentions working on Davina and the digital power amp, and expecting them to be ready in about a year.As far as i know rob is working on Davina, digital power amp and 4M tap mscaler !
There are posts in the interim years mentioning code that didn't work as initially expected, the development of new prototype boards, plus periods when he was too busy designing dacs to devote time to Davina etc.
True in the past couple of years Rob has posted about covid lockdowns, and absence of travelling allowing the free time to work on Davina - you never know maybe the design is fairly mature now, but the supply chain issues make it difficult to develop the final prototypes, and then industrialise the manufacture.
Many designers would have given up, but thankfully Rob keeps grinding away at the R&D.
Can, or does the Chord Etude Amplifier boost the DAVE Headphone output at all? Or is it purely to drive external speakers using the DAVE as a Pre-Amp?
