After comparing the 1.2 and 2.0 firmware (the only 2 to be released) I can't hear any sound difference but the volume pot is definitely better scaled in the earlier firmware for me.
Strange indeed ,I find the opposite to your evaluations .I have had a listen on the Bravura combo today. Not sure if my expectations were too high or what, after reading this thread but i was more disappointed than impressed. They don't sound like a typical stats and isn't a compliment, the whole signature is rather dark, with pronounced but monotonous low frequencies, ok holography, good detail retrieval and bit too monochromatic timbre for my taste and a bit too congested/dense sounding (lack of air). Possibly more suitable for some electronica, metal, not necessarily jazz or classical. I remember 009 with Trilogy amp, there was way more insight into recording, better defined soundstage, more 3D, greater timbral accuracy and gradation, more engaging and bigger sound and so on. Also, in my view, a well amped Utopia (Felik Euforia), D8000 are a better option. In general, it would be a very decent entry level proposition if priced around £2000-2500, but not for the asking 6k (black version). Built quality was very good, no complaints and a clear step up from the previous Sonoma that was squeaky poor (headphones) on the other hand.
Your description is quite far off of how they sound. Maybe you should check the chain or the headphones. I'm for sure open to different opinions but the bravura is anything else than dark. Further, it has a great Timbre for an electrostatic headphone, you can hear still a bit of the monochromatic Timbre as you mention but way less than a stax. I think that's also the standout of the bravura that it provides the positive aspects of an electrostatic (speed, detail) but also has dynamics and great Timbre that stax often miss. No way an utopia is even near the bravura in sq. Soundstage is not the widest but that is to be expected as it follows Harman in mids and treble.I have had a listen on the Bravura combo today. The Bravura take some time to adjust to and appreciate. As is the often the case in this hobby, not every recording sounds great on all equipment. I listen to classical opera, chamber music, and similar. I am frequently amazed at how natural and even the Bravura can sound depending on the recording. The built in DSP in the amp unit pulls off some interesting sonic tricks. These headphones might not be all things to all people, but for me they are excellent.Your description is quite far off of how they sound. Maybe you should check the chain or the headphones. sound of the bravura’s are darker then Stax for sure but that’s the great thing in the bravura tuning in my opinion.

To my ears, both Aperio and Bravura are actually less dark and less warm than X9000. The highs and trebles are still typical electrostatic, but it has beef, muscles, bones… Yet I assume without the limitation of AIO, it could be even bigger and more dynamic in that more often than not convenience is not on par with performance. So from this I gather that Bravura also sounds meatier? Would you agree?
dark is the wrong word meatier is the better one(you are right). they sound much more powerful then every Stax but the advance of an electrostatic headphones.

Thanks!
That's interesting if not the opposite of what I thought based on the post above. Thanks!
Loved Aperio since 2018
Guess you might need to listen no matter what others say
