Hmmm, doubtful there are ANY Sennheiser IE-8's or IE-80's EVER made anywhere but China. They get sold everywhere but they are ALL made in China just like the package says. Presumably the drivers are of German manufacture however. 
 
BTW - Where any product is manufactured has absolutely nothing to do with it's ultimate quality...that's up many other factors than where it's made, or put together.

Yeah but the seller I bought them from said he bought it from some store audio store in Netherlands, reason he was selling it was change of mind but it was past the period where you can return it back to the store. Since there are different offices around the world, the one I got in contact with was Sennheiser europe, and it was confirmed that the place the seller got it from was on the authorised distributor list of Sennheiser and I even gave them the bottom serial number (6 digits or so) from the white sticker for them to check from there system. Heck I even went further and went into local audio store near my suburb to verify with a demo. I never did say mine wasn't Made in China, but I should've reworded that manufacture part in my last post to clear up any confusion.

I'm currently in Taiwan for holiday, bumped into a sennheiser shop (beside Taipei digital mall, main MRT station) Selling all of their product only Including HD800, well Im only interested in their IEM namely IE8 and IE80, their IE80's are out of stock. So there are a few IE8 and IE8i, i can't but notice the boxes, in the cabinet the open here (yellow line) is different in both the display. ( it rang a bell ... ??? fake ? ) and there are boxes which are opened in a glass cabinet I saw the sponge, the cutting is rounded and differrent in both the ie8 amd ie8i But both boxes IEM it self looked good, the lines are real close to the S and the bass tuning is not reccessed either.

Confused....

Someone switched fake stuff in a sennheiser boutique shop ?

Hello all, new to the board but appreciate all the info here.
 
Is there anyone in the Hoboken/NYC area who would be willing to take a listen to a pair of IE8's I just bought from ebay in exchange for some free starbucks and gratitude? These are my first foray into higher end headphones, so I don't really know what they're supposed to sound like, but they don't sound much better than my 20$ skullcandys. I've read through this whole thread and several others, but I really can't tell from looking at the box or the markings. 
 
I'm a complete noob and can't really want to wait for the sound to improve with "burn-in" because I only have a small window to return to the seller.

I bought these from informatique.nl over a year ago. I paid 239 Euro for them.
Can you please determine if these are real or fakes? 
 
there is a small and thin orange, copper metal connection in the left earpiece next to a green one.
In the right earpiece there is a red cable but you can only see it clear from the side.
 
on the left earpiece the cable comes out angled. is this a manufacture fault?
The was a piece of tape holding the plastic band together. I only saw it when i already cut it because the tape was not visible from the bottom. it was on the side in the box.
 
there is a metal thing inside the storage box and it ''clicks'' in place.
