These are fakes. I know someone selling IE8s (authentic ones, of course) at twice this price although without packaging.

I think, as a rule of thumb, if you want to save yourself from all the hassles of whether you'll get a genuine or fake IE8, just buy at authorized resellers.

Real IE8s without the packaging? Are they used? B stock? What's the deal with that?

But having read your post, they probably are fakes. Though I'll still keep an open mind whether I'm willing to put my life on it.

By the way, questioning whether they're fakes is a reasonable thing to do, since every tom, dick and harry here seems to be jumping on to the conclusion they're fakes, and to be honest, it's just not that clear that they are.

OK, maybe you are skeptical, maybe you are selling fakes and want to put a question of doubt in people's minds

Not saying you are, but I wouldn't put it past someone that is selling fakes to come here and try to throw a wrench in this thread.

I know there are many fake products out there in all categories. I do trust many people on here that are long time members. I am a believer.

like my box - and I'm shure its a fake offert by a seller at amazon it has the same mistake in the German description (Deutsch -> Line 2 -> Außengeräuschen the ß is missing), strange for a high end product from a german enterprise

This is rather interesting. I got a pair of IE8s from an authorized dealer (not going to mention it but a HF sponsor indeed) and the box also had the ß missing from line 2. Can anyone else verify that the authentic box actually has ß in line 2?

Reading this topic depresses me :/

I honestly cannot tell from the pictures whether my pair of IE8 are real or fake. The only thing I know for certain is the fact that the L and R letters are not slightly slanted. Other than that, everything looks fine I think. Is the bass knob supposed to just turn smoothly or is it also supposed to click with each tick mark?

Pictures taken with my cell phone, which I'm surprised took such decent pictures

I switched the left and right headphones in case you were wondering.

If it makes a difference, the back of my box has Außengeräuschen with the ß in it. I also got my IE8 for $290 off Sarjo Wholesale Group from Amazon, which I've been reading has been selling quit a lot of fake IE8s lately

So are mine real or fake?

Just seen some IE 7's on eBay ,£75 still under warranty with a picture of the guarantee,I was actually thinking about this pair, but after reading through this, how hard is it to forge a piece of paper with guarantee on it ,or am I getting paranoid?

Call me callous, but I don't feel sorry for people that don't think that deal is too good to be true. But if people think that deal isn't too good to be true, are they going to really know the difference between a real and a fake anyways?

I remember, months ago before this thread there was an ebay seller selling an IE8 without any packaging from China for somewhere like $200. My guess is they were hot, but they could have been fake. I would have never bought those based on price, location, and lack of a box/accessories.

The pictures aren't all that clear, but I think it may look real. And I wouldn't worry about the L & R lettering. Read this post, heck, if you think you have a fake you should probably read the entire thread!
