Ha ha you guys made me take out my Portapros.  Forgot how good they sounded and even more so with the Walnut.  Modded mine with mogami cable a few years ago.  I need to get a new one and mod it with some smaller cable.

I know there are fake Portapros if you can believe it.  ( info in here somewhere )

I changed the jack on one of my portapro's to a Neutrik and was sad to hear the sound had changed, not for the worse, but I missed the old sound so much that I bought another Portapro haha.

I totally sympathize with this. I have 2 so i can deal with it....

Well, as I finally got my hands on an Zen 1, I decided to see how my various daps (at least the ones I thought could) would do with the hungry little earbud.  So far I'm on my second dap, as the Opus #1 did well but might have been a bit strained at 105/120 in high gain.  The Walnut laughed at the earbuds and fed them more than enough power, so I'm quite glad to hear it.  Details were reasonable, and certainly above what most any other dap I own at it's price can produce except the Kogan, but that wouldn't have nearly the power for the task.  It makes for a great phenomenal value for it's price.  Now I just have to convince myself to get into modding as you all love it so.

Check your soldering connections, another jack shouldn't sound any different
