The upper part seems to be removable. There might be an SD card slot beneath that thing.

I won't count on it.  The F has the same thing and it's only for WiFi.

This isn't announced in Japan yet that I've seen. Japan will get ATRAC support and most likely a 64GB version (like the NW-Z1070 and NW-F807). I doubt they will get 128GB. So if you want more than 32GB, you'll most likely need to import it.

It will be very unlike sony to include a memory slot sadly. Getting tired of apple now, so it would be a refreshing change. Always regret not getting the x10 series when they came out but lack of gapless ruled that out.

If Sony added microsd it'd be a much easier sell. With X3, DX50, there's not a whole lot beyond the sexy design in my eyes.

As an F807 walkman owner, I'd also worry about the battery life of the new model considering it has Android under the hood.

The F886 is rated at 36h playback time, my Z1060 is rated at 20 some hours and I charge it like once a week or like 20 minutes before going out if it has too low battery.

I also have an A865 and a FiiO X3 and I have to charge them every other day with the same usage, the X3 have died on me more than once if I somehow forget to charge it by the third day. And those don't have Android so the OS is not to blame.

I'm stunned at the 36h, do they describe the test scenario for that number? Wifi off, mp3 vs flac, etc?

Maybe it was just the F807 that had a terrible battery...

Yes, 36hrs for regular Joe mp3s, 25 hrs for 24/96 FLAC.

I might have to check this out. A high-res DAP with a non-crap UI would be good for me.
